Los Angeles City Fire Department Haz Mat Fire Trucks back to firtsresponse portfolio
Los Angeles City operates 4 squads manned by approximately 180 trained Haz Mat technicians at four strategic locations (Downtown Los Angeles, Port of Los Angeles, Los Angeles International Airport and the San Fernando Valley). These squads were the first vehicles fully funded by the Department of Homeland Security. Whereas their primary mission is to serve Los Angeles, DHS can request the redeployment of these vehicles and their operators in response to a major national disaster. All squads have the ability to share information through multiple redundant wireless networks between themselves or with any agency having internet access.
