Life·line® confined space monitoring system
Safe Environment Engineering’s Life·line® Monitoring System is designed to monitor the safety of workers in confined spaces such as airplane wings and fuel tanks. This work environment is subject to statutory laws and regulations designed to ensure the safety of workers in hazardous environments.
Regulatory codes require Life·line® to have 2-way voice communications as well as common alerting capability for each confined space entrant. Our Personal Safety Monitor (PSM) is a rugged, specially configured PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). In addition to flashing lights and vibrations, the PSM communicates using loud and unambiguous voice commands and alerts. Commands such as “are you OK, please respond”, or alerts such as “Warning” and “Evacuate” are difficult to misinterpret.. The  PSM enables wireless voice communications, responds to periodic “are you OK” queries, and provides a means to signal for help in case of an emergency.

The Lifeline Monitoring System with its PSMs and integrated meters and sensors (with their associated Dongles) works as part of a fail-safe wireless network. This wireless network is a robust version of those used in homes and offices. Each PSM and Dongle becomes another component of the network and communicates through wireless base stations called Access Points.

Multiple Access Points can be networked together to provide seamless coverage for cities, buildings or facilities. All the components of this network can interconnect so as to ensure no one point of failure causes a disruption in the connection. The network simply skips over any point not operational. This type of network architecture is called a MESH network.
If desired, this network can connect to the Internet providing near unlimited connection options.
